Port Sanilac Lighthouse
SKU: 5758
Nestled in a residential area along the Port Sanilac shoreline on Lake Huron, the Port Sanilac lighthouse was built in 1886. The Port Sanilac Light originally burned kerosene, but was electrified in 1929. Now a private residence, the tower is maintained by the US Coast Guard and the light remains an active aid to navigation on Lake Huron shores. All structures on the site of the Port Sanilac Lighthouse were listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. In addition to the residence, three other structures on the sight are the brick oil house, wooden outhouse and wooden covered well.
