Pensacola Lighthouse
SKU: 5170
Completed in 1858, the Pensacola Lighthouse towers 160 feet above the Pensacola Bay and the Florida Gulf Coast. Located on the grounds of the Pensacola Naval Air Station, and adjacent to the National Museum of Navigation, it was first lit in 1859. Built two years before the Civil War, the light was darkened and the lens removed by Confederate forces to prevent Union ships from using its beacon for navigation. It was struck six times by Union cannons during the war. Since the Civil War, it has been struck by lightning, shaken by an earthquake and stood tall during several hurricanes. It survived it all and is still in use today.
