Copper Harbor Range Lights
SKU: 5613
Severe winters did not slow the rapid development of mining after deposits of copper, then iron, were found in Copper Harbor during the mid 1800s. Maritime shipping in and out of the harbor grew greatly and in 1869 the Lighthouse Board built a keepers dwelling with a tower to accommodate the existing Copper Harbor rear range light. It was deactivated in 1964 and replaced with a steel skeletal tower. Located in Fort Wilkins State Park, the keepers house is now privately owned.
