The Sand Hills Lighthouse is also known as Five Point Light. The square brick tower rises to 91 feet above the brick keeper's dwelling. Built in 1919 it was automated in 1939 when it was used as a USCG training center during WWII. Deactivated in 1954 it changed private ownership several times. It is now the Sand Hills Lighthouse Inn and offers eight Victorian style rooms with fantastic views of Lake Superior. It is recognized nationally as one of the nation's premier bed and breakfast inns.
