Eagle Bluff Lighthouse - Door County
SKU: 5262
Eagle Bluff Lighthouse was built in 1868 in an effort to reduce shipwrecks along the rugged shoreline of Wisconsin's Door County. Unmarked shipping lanes in the mid 1800s caused vessels to wreck on the submerged shoals and reefs on their way to and from the city of Green Bay. Constructed of cream city brick, the lighthouse was home to keepers and their families from 1868 to 1926. In 1960 the Door County Historical Society began their extensive four year restoration project. Located on the grounds of Peninsula State Park, the light tower is 43 ft tall and the light shines 76 ft above Green Bay in the area called Tennyson Bay.
