Sturgeon Bay North Pierhead Lighthouse
SKU: 5258
The Sturgeon Bay North Pierhead Light was first operational on May 15, 1882. The original 30 ft high structure was just an open frame tower projecting a red light from a fixed Sixth Order Fresnel lens and had a catwalk for travel during high tides. Major reconstruction in 1903 combined the fog signal and light tower. The current lighthouse is now 39 ft high and serves as an active navigational aid for ships passing through the "shortcut" canal between the waters of Lake Michigan and Green Bay.
