Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Light Tower
SKU: 5257
The current Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Light Tower began operation in 1899 and replaced one initially built in 1873. In 1903 the Lighthouse Board corrected a vibration problem by erecting the present skeletal steel framework. Built on the north side of the Ahnapee River entrance to Lake Michigan, it has a focal plane of 107 feet above lake level. On July 7, 1939 lighthouse service was transferred to the Coast Guard.
