Sturgeon Bay Ships Canal Lighthouse
SKU: 5182
The current Sturgeon Bay Canal Lighthouse replaced one initially built in 1873. It is on the north side of the Ahnapee River entrance to Lake Michigan in Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin. It's new design was unique to the area. Several changes were made as the new design proved to promote excessive vibration, affecting the light operation. The light officially began operation on March 17, 1899. In 1903 the Lighthouse Board corrected the vibration problem by erecting the present skeletal steel framework.
