Inner Harbor Light

The inner harbor marina of Port Washington offers visiting transient boaters a safe docking for the day, week or month. It is also the mooring area for the charter fishermen. The entire marina has more than 200 "deep water" slips and offers a friendly casual atmosphere, night security and is within one block of the fine restaurants and shops of downtown. Perched on the hill overlooking the marina is the 1860 Light Station. Guiding maritime vessels until the mid 1970's, U.S. Coast Guard light keepers and their families lived in the station and tended the light. The keeper's post was eliminated in the mid 1970's when the foghorn and light were automated.
